Behind the Veil
“My experience of Africa with Global Partners was so far beyond my expectations that I am at a loss for words. It was a veiw “behind the veil” that showed me the real Africa, being lived by courageous, real people, that affected me deeply. It was a trip that changed my life in many ways.” |
Meeting Villagers
“I looked into the eyes of hundreds of Maasai villagers and saw their strength, their vitality and their amazing willingness to do everything in their power to make a better world for their children.” |
A Child’s Life
“In the far distance we saw a thin line of goats on the horizon of the Serengeti Plains. As we approached we could make out the flapping red cloth worn by a Maasai shepherd. We stopped and he came over to the truck. He was just a boy of eight or nine years of age. He was the dustiest kid I have ever seen. He asked for water. We gave him a bottle and he took two swallows and gave it back saying “Sante” thank you.” |
The Tree of Life
“After hours of driving cross country we came to a wash or low place in the plains that would have carried water during the rainy season. In the bottom was a huge green tree. The guide told us that the Maasai called it “The Tree of Life” and believe that it was from under this tree that man came into the world.” |

When: Sunday, March 4, 2007, LA Marathon in support of Global Partners for Development’s new education project
What: A team of walkers and runners will participate in the Los Angeles Marathon to raise money to support two new secondary school computer centers near Arusha, Tanzania. This is Global Partner’s newest education area. Connecting African secondary school students to the internet will open the resources of the globe to them, giving them new opportunities and making it possible for them to take their place as productive members of the modern world.
The LA Marathon is the largest single-day sporting event east of the Pacific and west of the Mississippi. This year there will be more than 20,000 participants. The marathon raises approximately a million dollars for various charitable causes annually. How Can I Help: The team is looking for people willing to sponsor them to raise funds for the two new computer centers. Click the button below to donate through PayPal.
