Peter will be riding in the Terrible Two Double Century on June 15, 2019. Peter is our Executive Director Emeritus and an active board member. He is an amazingly fit individual and continues to guide and support Global Partners.

Peter Says…

On June 15, I will ride the infamous Terrible Two here in Sonoma County, one of the toughest 200-mile bicycle events in California. I’ve trained for 6 months with vast hill climbing. Having ridden the Terrible 200-kilometer twice before, that distance is manageable. But 200 miles with 18,000 feet of elevation gain will be a real challenge and beyond what I have attempted before.

Two days after the ride, I travel to Uganda and Tanzania in East Africa, my first trip there in 5 years. In Uganda, we’ll visit Global Partners’ supported women’s groups raising farm animals and economic development, and meet many sponsored girls in GPFD’s scholarship program. In Tanzania, I will attend the GPFD-sponsored forum on Sustainable Development, and give a keynote address.

This year your contributions will educate girls through our scholarship program, in both Uganda and Pastoral Women’s Council in Tanzania. Providing the opportunity for girls to continue their education to finish high school, and go on to higher education or vocational skills training, is the most powerful tool for positive change. Benefits include delaying marriage and childbirth, thereby improving healthy decision-making, giving girls confidence and a voice in their communities, better financial futures for themselves and their children, and breaking centuries-old bonds of subservience.

On behalf of Global Partners and the many girls who will benefit from your pledge, your generosity, thank you for your past and present support.
